ScheduleWall, the work calendar just got faster

The server where we host ScheduleWall just got significantly faster and we hope you enjoy the improved experience. The increase in computer power has almost doubled so you should be able to see a notable performance increase. We apologize for the downtime during this upgrade and hope you find the speed boost as welcome as we think you will.

We would love to hear how you are using ScheduleWall to manage your team calender, restaurant staff or what it is you use it for. What do you like about it and what would you like to see developed? Drop us a line or say hi on twitter.

Rotaboard and beyond …

We have received a lot of great feedback for Rotaboard, way more than we could ever have hoped for and we thank all the people who have sent us emails (keep doing that).

We have had lots (and lots) of requests for features, upgrades and support but due to the free nature of Rotaboard and commitments to other commmercial projects, we had thus far been unable to allocate much time to Rotaboard.

Hence due to popular request, we are currently working on a commercial successor to Rotaboard that will adhere to the same spirit of Rotaboard with focus on simplicity and ease of use. The plan is to introduce paid supported plans (there will still be a free plan) and iteratively and consistantly evolve the new application so our customers can get the best scheduling tools for their domains.

So stay tuned …

Website for rental villa in Provence

Provence in Southern France is a place of great food and beautiful sights. With its nice, cozy mountain villages and the sprawling life of the Rivera by the Mediterranean it’s the perfect place for a vacation.

In the middle of this area on the slopes of mountain Baou, Peter Grossmann and Terese Andersen built a very unique rental villa. They contacted us to create a website that would show off some of the atmosphere of their house along with the beautiful vistas surrounding it.

The task was to create a website that would express lounge atmosphere, exclusivity and Scandinavian simplicity and show off beautiful pictures of the villa and the area where the villa is located.

We created a website based on WordPress that catered for the needs to run the rental of the villa.

  • Easy content manage system to allow for easy update of pictures and text
  • Multi-lingual system that lets the owner manage the site in several languages
  • A booking system that lets the owner control when the villa is vacant and occupied

The WordPress plugins used are Kieran OShea’s Calendar, Delicious Days’ CForm and Qian Qin’s qTranslate.

A Prague Blog About Everything

We recently helped the Danish tour guides in Prague Pavel and Helge move their blog from Blogspot to a self-hosted WordPress.

Pavel and Helge is a company formed by a Czech and a Dane who have tour guided in the city for many years and know a lot about the the life, events, politics and corners of the city. They have been blogging for a year and a half now, where they cover some really interesting topics like Brewery Trips, Virtual Tours of Prague, Communism in Prague, American Radars features on Neighbourhoods and my favourites are their monthly Culture Calendar for Prague.

Pavel-Helge target Danish speaking tourists in Czech Republic so you will probably not understand their writing if you are not Scandinavian.

WordPress is Pavel-Helge’s platform of choice because of the flexibility it provides for blogging and as a content-management system. It provides an easy way to organize the extensive amount of information they are producing on Prague.

Introducing our Labs section

Over recent times we’ve been busy working on a number of projects and we’ve decided to introduce a ‘labs‘ section to showcase our favourite non-client based projects.

Projects listed here are ones that were developed in-house for our company’s and our individual usage. Your feedback can help us improve them so please feel free to use these applications and send your comments, feedback and suggestions to us.

If you see something here you would like to use within your own company, we would be happy to hear from you. Just give us a shout.

CMS and intranet based on WordPress

The Danish civil engineering and concrete contractor company Bo Michelsen A/S needed a redesign of their company’s website and contracted us for the task. We discussed and analysed the premise for the new website and arrived at the following description for the future site:

“The engineering company Bo Michelsen needs a redesign of their static website. The goal is to create a website that displays the company as a stable, local enterprise with many years of experience. The website should not be ‘fancy’ but functional and simple without being boring.

Bo Michelsen’s logo is well known in the local community of Sønderjylland and should have a prominent display on the website.

Specifically the new website should help spread the knowledge of the company to adjacent region of Midtjylland and especially target private contractors. The site should be easy to update by the people at Bo Michelsen’s office and it should be easy to add new text and pictures of projects.”

Based on this, we created a couple of paper sketches for different signature designs of the front page and continued the discussion with Bo Michelsen based on these.

We are still alive!

This blog has been quiet for way too long! It seems like we have gone into a long hiatus which is far from the the truth but we do apologize for the lack of posts. In the upcoming days we will rectify this, posting some updates on what we have been working on lately and there is some good news on the way to fans of Rota Board ;)

Times They Are A-Changin

rota board - your work plan the easy wayWe have been receiving great feedback from the users of Rota Board, thanks and keep it coming. The things that people have been requesting the most have been the options to change time and day formats. So today we have rolled out the following features:

  • Set your time zone so the Today Indicator is always right
  • Change time format to use either 24-hour clock (military time) or 12-hour clock (am/pm)
  • Change the start day of the week to Sunday, Monday or any other day

The majority of these requests came from our American user base – we hope these changes help you in your usage of Rota Board.

Support Rota Board

We are happy to see people use our product and we love the feedback we’ve been getting. We’ve endeavored to make sure Rota Board is staying free of charge but we have a small request if you enjoy using it.

The idea of Rota Board is to keep it as simple and clean as possible and that means we will not put on ads or other annoyances. Instead we have added a small Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure! button.

Don’t feel obliged – but if you want feel free to treat us a cup of coffee ($2), a beer ($5) or buy us lunch ($15). We will be very grateful for any kind of donation to keep Rota Board in the clouds.
